Proper Condom Use

When ready to
use the condom.
-
Open package at one corner, being
careful not to tear into the condom... sharp fingernails or rough
handling can damage the latex. Be sure package and condom appear
to be in good condition
-
Place the tip
of the rolled-up condom over the erect
penis. If there is a reservoirs tip, squeeze the air out. If there
is no tip, squeeze the air out of a half-inch space at the end.
This provides room for semen.
-
Unroll the
condom down the penis. The entire length should be covered. If the
penis is uncircumcised, the foreskin should be pulled back first.
-
Immediately
after ejaculation (before you loose your erection), grasp the
condom firmly at the ring (base) and pull out.
-
Remove the
condom by gently pulling it off the penis. Condoms are not
recommended for the sewer so do not flush them down the toilet;
rather throw them away wrapped in some tissue.
-
Never Never
Never reuse condoms
RECOMMENDATIONS
-
For additional
lubrication, use only water-based lubricants.
-
Do not store condoms in
your wallet, glove box or in other places where it can be damaged
by heat or "wear and tear".
-
Do not use a condom that has
expired.
-
Do
not use
Petroleum jelly or mineral-oil products such as cold cream, baby
oil, or hand lotions. These products weaken latex. Always check
the label.
-
Do not use spermicidal
condoms for oral sex - DO use a some sort of condom during oral
sex
-
For enhanced
pleasure, place a small amount of water-based lubricant on the tip
of the penis before putting the condom on.
-
Remember to
use a new condom for every act of vaginal sex as well as anal
and/or oral sex.
-
Do not double up, use one
condom at a time and use a new one for each sex act.
-
If you feel
the condom break, withdraw immediately. Both individuals should
wash their genitals with soap and water. It is said that urinating
may help in
avoiding some infections.
-
If ejaculation
occurs after breakage, the
doctor can prescribe a form of
birth-control that can stop
most pregnancies, but
only if used within 72 hours
of intercourse. This is by no means to be used as a continuous
type of birth control method.
